the WOMAN MADE WELL Podcast

Navigate the challenges of parenting with honest conversations, empowering stories, and expert advice.

Welcome to ‘Woman Made Well’ with Candice Wood, a podcast that empowers women through the highs and lows of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed or isolated, this is your supportive space.

Hi, I'm Dr. Candice Wood.

I am a board-certified OB/GYN with added certification in perinatal mood disorders. I have loved treating women's health for 18 years. My journey has led me to focus the 2nd half of my career on women's mental health, an area that I feel is tragically undertreated.

My goal for this podcast is to create a space that is as safe as my clinic couch - a place to feel understood, motivated, and prepared to meet the challenges and find the beauty of parenthood. You don't have to lose yourself to be a good mother - in fact, finding yourself in motherhood will take you to depths of joy you never imagined.

Will you let me show you how?

Episode 2: "What's Draining Your Bucket?"

Today, I’m exploring a topic that hits close to home: managing depression and anxiety while balancing the demands of daily life. I’ll be sharing my favorite metaphor, the “bucket of water”, to help us better understand these feelings and approach them with patience.

Think of your ability to handle life’s challenges as a bucket filled with water. We use that water to put out daily “fires”, like work stress or family demands. But for many of us, we’re starting each day with a nearly empty bucket, leaving us drained. Recently, I spoke with a client who seemed happy but was constantly feeling irritable with her loved ones—simply because her bucket was already running dry.

In this episode, I’ll share practical tips on how to stop the drain and refill your bucket, so you can show up as your best self without guilt or burnout.
